Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) President, Abraham Neequaye Kotei has stated that his great work together with his team is the reason behind the world’s recognition. He made these statements after being recognized as the Boxing Organization Africa’s President and the GBA being named as one of the Best Performing Federations at the 47th Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards.

In an interview with Adoa Sports team, he highlighted the professional boxing league is been recognized since he got voted into office in 2021 as the president.” everyone can see the good work which called for the recognition of Africa and the world as well he said.

Mr Kotei said he has registered all the boxers on the National Health Insurance Scheme with a total number of three hundred and above, including the managers, professional boxers, coaches, and promoters.

Responding to the alleged issue between himself and Charles Quartey, He cleared the air on being partial. To him, the same incident happened last year at a fight night which ended the fight.

In addition, he continued by saying that he had no intention of cheating the federations who participated in the match and even had to deduct three points as a sanction from the Ghana Army as it was alleged that he wanted them to win the competition. He further, expressed his displeasure over managers’ decision to protect the boxers against opponents with the fear of losing.

According to him, Managers are caught in the dilemma of allowing boxers to fight their opponents and their financial gains which would not qualify them for the national level, therefore, managers should allow their boxers to fight their opponents to boost their confidence and experience to be able to contest and win international fights.

The President later encouraged people to support him for he has good intentions that will bring development to The Ghana Professional Boxing League.
