The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has urged the government to promptly facilitate the replacement of lost national identity cards, passports, and other essential documents for individuals impacted by the Akosombo dam spillage.
Expressing the urgent need to alleviate the suffering of those affected, Ablakwa emphasized the humanitarian necessity of reissuing crucial documents such as birth certificates, health insurance cards, voter ID cards, passports, and Ghana cards for the affected individuals.
During his address in Parliament, Ablakwa stressed the importance of governmental intervention in the replacement of the thousands of lost documents, including Ghana Cards, Health Insurance Cards, Voter ID Cards, Birth Certificates, and Passports, for individuals profoundly affected by the catastrophic consequences of the September 5, 2023 spillage from the Akosombo and Kpong dams managed by the Volta River Authority.
He further implored relevant public institutions to conduct a specialized and comprehensive initiative across all affected constituencies aimed at the immediate replacement of these vital documents.
