The Vice President of the Ghana Cycling Federation Riyadh Mohammed expressed his disappointment over the deplorable state of Ablekuma Olebu venue for cycling.
He stated that the constructed roads do not meet the standards of Union Cyclist Internationale (UCI).
Adding to it, the Ablekuma Olebu Venue lacks tents for the participants to train, the ends of the routes to be used lack barricades, the surrounding is covered in filth, and the inner lane for cyclists’ U-turns has been blocked by traffic barrier poles.
He said no action has been taken despite the authorities being aware of the conditions of the venue.
“They are because the CAF and the UCI communicated with the Local Organizing Committee(LOC)that this is the place we are going to do the U-turn and we have two weeks but it is not yet done,” he said.
He added that, because the leaders are nonchalant, things will be left in the control of UCI for dire consequences.
“ We will leave it to UCI to make the decision. If the road is not ready, UCI will not allow us to participate”, he said.
