President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in his State of the Nation address delivered on Tuesday, February 27, highlighted significant plans for improving government transparency and efficiency and ensuring a smooth electoral process and national security.

Describing his administration as focused on digitalization, President Akufo-Addo praised his Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for spearheading efforts in this direction. He announced the upcoming launch of a “performance tracker” tool, led by Dr. Bawumia, which will enable citizens to monitor government projects without relying solely on presidential addresses. This move aims to enhance accountability and prevent the presentation of artistic impressions as completed projects.

Turning to the 2024 elections, President Akufo-Addo assured the public of the government’s commitment to facilitating free, fair, and smooth polls. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government, the Electoral Commission, and political parties to address any challenges.

In addressing national security concerns, President Akufo-Addo highlighted Ghana’s proactive approach to counterterrorism. He credited proper planning and resource allocation to the armed forces and security agencies for maintaining the country’s safety and security. Despite extremism in neighbouring countries, Ghana remains unaffected due to strategic measures implemented by the government.

President Akufo-Addo emphasized enhancing the police force’s capabilities, ensuring they are better equipped than ever before. He reiterated Ghana’s commitment to safeguarding its territorial integrity and maintaining a safe environment for all citizens.
