Lawyer John Agbotey Applauds Akuffo-Addo for Expanding Court Facilities

By: Ruth Tang

Lawyer John Agbotey, a respected and steadfast figure in the legal community, has expressed his appreciation to His Excellency President Akuffo-Addo for increasing the number of courts in the country. Agbotey made this known during a review session of the President’s recent State Address on PM Ghana’s show, which aired on Adoa television.

According to him, lawyers like himself and any other court-related issues used to be difficult due to inadequate space and limited court facilities. However, the situation has improved since the President started introducing more facilities.

“Hitherto, we used to struggle even in the courtroom for space, the number of courts was limited and we as lawyers, would go in there and one court would have about 200 hundred cases or more to manage but now that the courts are springing up the pressure has begun to reduce gradually. And with time, we will say that the rate of turnover of cases will be reduced” he said.

Lawyer Agbotey said the extension of court facilities has helped in decreasing the rate at which case turnovers used to delay, therefore the court extension initiative by the government is in the right direction, paving the way for upcoming lawyers, and as a matter of fact, the government should continue.
