Regulating the labour market to meet minimum wage, a major problem in Ghana- Richard Manuribe

By: Mary Wellington

Richard Mauribe, a member of the NDC communication team, expressed shock on ADOATV’s PM Ghana show over the omission of the unemployment rate in the President’s SONA speech.

According to him, out of the 33. million Ghanaians population, 4.3 million of the 11.3 million employed Ghanaians do not meet the labor force.

He explained that the change of the Labour Commission to the Labour Authority ensures that every institution, either private or public sector creating employment will have to go to the Labour Authority to be supplied with Labor for proper regulation.

In conclusion, former President, John Dramani Mahama, tackled the high rate of unemployment and the brain drain of professionals, and soon he is going to regulate this problem with the introduction of a proper Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
