13th African Games: Vice President Commissions University of Ghana Stadium

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has commissioned the University of Ghana stadium for the upcoming 13th African Games. The facility is one of the two main host sites for the 13th African Games which will commence from the 8th March to 23rd March 2024.

The facility would serve as an indication of sports development in Ghana and also aid in its promotion. The facility shows the readiness of Ghana to host the 13 African Games.

The Stadium will host games like 3×3 Basketball, Athletes, Armwrestling, Rugby, Speedball, Weightlifting, Pickleball, Men’s Football and many more has been listed as disciplines the University of Ghana Stadium would host during the games.

The University of Ghana stadium has been upgraded to an Olympic Stadium Standard, which boasts of a 1,000 seater-10 Lane competition, 5 tennis courts which include a Centre Court, a multi-purpose hall for indoor sports and A multipurpose Dome.

The Vice President in his speech urged Ghanaians to maintain the facility well in other to host several games coming years and also expressed his appreciation for the support and cooperation of all stakeholders and looked forward to their participation in the games.
