Host Nation Ghana’s Black Satellites U20 are set to face the Republic of Congo in their opening Group A match today at the Accra Sports Stadium at 3:00 PM GMT.

The Satellites, are looking to make a strong start in their quest for gold. Captain Asamoah Kuffour has expressed his team’s confidence and determination to deliver a winning performance.

“There are many young players out there looking for this opportunity and we are grateful to be selected to represent Ghana in this competition,” Kuffour stated. “We are ready and we are prepared enough to win the trophy.”

Coach Ofei alongside the Team Captain made this known during a media session held on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the Media Centre of the Accra Sports Stadium.

“There’s no pressure. We are fully prepared and we have a good squad and the boys are ready and hungry so we don’t feel any pressure”.

“Our motivation is that first, we are the host country and that’s enough motivation for us. Secondly, we are Ghana, we are very hungry and ready to deliver. We just have to showcase our qualities and represent the country as best as we can”, Desmond Ofei.

Congo, a team known for their physical and defensive approach, will pose a significant challenge for the Black Satellites. However, the home crowd advantage and Ghana’s attacking talent could prove decisive.

The match is expected to be a tight affair, and both teams will be eager to secure the three points that come with a victory. This opening encounter will set the tone for the group stage and could give valuable insights into the championship contenders.
