The Ghanaian women’s table tennis team has been eliminated from the table tennis women’s team event of the 2024 African Games.
The Black Loopers fell short following a 2-3 defeat against South Africa in the quarter-final stage at the Accra International Conference Centre on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
The Ghanaian female trio comprising Baah-Danso, Cynthia Kwabi and Juanita Borteye battled against South Africa’s Musfiquh Kalam, Danisha Patel and Laila Edwards.
The team had the opportunity to advance to the last four when 13-year-old star Juanita Borteye won her first game of the day.
Despite Juanita Borteye securing a convincing 3-0 victory in her match, it was team captain Celia Baah-Danso’s narrow 2-3 defeat in the final match that decided Ghana’s fate.
A win from Celia may have given the Black Loopers a spot in the final four.
