The Dean of Students at the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMac), Dr. Rhodalene Amartey, has urged women to prioritize education and vocational training as a means of empowerment.
She stated during her speech at the International Women’s Day event hosted by UniMac-IJ, South Legon Campus, which was themed “Inspire Inclusion”, that women should prioritize their education and studies. According to her, women can earn a good salary and improve their reputation by empowering themselves through education.
“Education empowers, it increases your income level, it puts you in a certain rank, by the time you come out of school you already a graduate. You have the foundation to serve the board, be part of the committee, attend diplomatic meetings, and make some income”
Dr. Rhodalene mentioned that empowering women is not only about education but also about cultivating the innate desire to do business and acquire vocational skills, in addition to their primary career. She believes that women should nurture their skills in fashion designing, event hosting, makeup artistry, and other areas that add value to their lives, due to the evolving trends in society.
“Cost of living is high, standard of living is high so you can’t sit at home and say that you’re a woman or just depend on the men’s salary. The men will provide but you must also support”
