The Member of Parliament for the Tain constituency, Hon. Adama Sulemana, has identified the lack of access to clean drinking water as the primary issue plaguing his constituency. Despite making several appeals to the central government for assistance, he reports that his efforts have been unsuccessful so far.
“This situation hovers around the smaller communities which the Ministry of Water and Sanitation has decided not to mind us. Most of my interventions are from what they give to me as common funds or national health insurance levy”
Although there has been no aid from the central government, Hon. Sulemana said he has managed to provide 15 boreholes for the constituency. He added that he has plans underway to make provisions for the communities that depend solely on rivers as a source of water.
“I have intentions of also doing water for like 4 communities who do not have water at all. They rely on rivers that get dried up during the dry season”
