The Minister Of Youth and sports Hon. Mustapha Ussif, yesterday 12 March in the press conference put a dishonest disposition, defaming the truth in defense to shield the glaring realities happening in the 13th African Games.
The disappointment was much expected and predicted by many and it was a waiting juncture.
Inspect of unpublicized fantastic opening ceremony put up by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), executed, the reality still stood in awaiting as it is said biblically, “If the foundation is destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
Much wasn’t expected from the minister and his populism theory team despite being well-resourced by the NPP government.
A political fanfare team that believes in visibility to win Panegyric rather than being technical and impactful result-oriented focused.
It’s for no fun cities are named after major events. It is to leave a more lasting memory of the event with the captivating spirit and culture of the city hence promoting sports tourism, cross-culture experience, and most importantly boosting economy, facility facelift, and the opportunity to resource and retool the national teams to more appealing modernized level.
But under the leadership of the Hon Ussif, it is all about luxury and colorful fanfare exchanging the sports and its advancement for showmanship that will leave the sport more ineffectual than before.
It was surprising for him to put a defense to worrying issues instead of giving reassurance and acting on mending the cracks for good finishing.
Any leader who wants to save shame must not do that by “defaming the truth” and others.
It’s only cowardly and deficient in leadership qualities that convene such blame contests and dishonesty to solvable issues.
We wait to embrace the unfolding evidence that is bound to uncover the failures and reckless spending by the Ministry and the LOC.
