Last Friday, April 12 2024, the citizens of Tema celebrated the annual Kpelejo Festival for purification and merrymaking.
However, a conflict broke out between the youth and the naval officers on duty leading to the unfortunate loss of two lives.
This incident occurred during a street procession held by the youth as part of the annual Kplejoo festival. Upon reaching the street adjacent to the Eastern Naval Command, tensions rose, resulting in a clash between the youth and the naval officers.
During the conflict, a group allegedly targeted a vehicle owned by the Eastern Naval Command of the Ghana Navy, inflicting considerable damage.
According to eyewitnesses, the Eastern Naval army opened fire on a group of people who were dancing. The witnesses claim that the victims were simply trying to defend themselves.
They stated that the Eastern naval army had intervened with their van, but they had not intended to cause any chaos as some are claiming.
Unfortunately, two people have lost their lives while four others have been injured.
Today, they seek justice for two lives lost by some purification rites and invoke their deity to punish the perpetrators.
