The Electoral Commission of Ghana has recently shared data highlighting the progress made in the ongoing voter registration process in different regions of the country. The latest figures reveal that a total of 143,014 people have been registered nationwide, indicating a steady pace in the registration exercise.
In the Greater Accra Region, 17,837 individuals have successfully registered to vote, indicating a high level of participation in the registration process. The Savanna Region has recorded 2,989 registrations, while the Ahafo and North East Regions have recorded 3,889 and 3,948 registrations respectively.
Notably, the Ashanti Region has witnessed substantial turnout, with 25,558 individuals registered thus far, underscoring the region’s significant role in the electoral process.

In terms of regional breakdowns, the Upper West Region has recorded 5,256 registrations, while the Eastern and Central Regions have seen 14,884 and 15,434 individuals respectively registered, indicating widespread participation across these areas.
The overall turnout reflects a positive trajectory towards achieving an inclusive and credible electoral system as the EC is ensuring that every eligible citizen has the opportunity to exercise their democratic right to vote.
The voter registration process started on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, and will end on May 27, 2024.
