The National Democratic Congress (NDC) held a press conference today at their headquarters to address issues regarding the ongoing limited voter registration.

The party’s leadership raised concerns about the presence of unidentified security personnel at registration centers, warning that such individuals will be recognized as impersonators.

Speaking at the press conference, the NDC’s General Secretary, Mr Fiifi expressed the party’s dissatisfaction with the Electoral Commission’s handling of the registration process.

“We have received reports of unidentified security personnel lurking around registration some centers, intimidating and harassing potential registrants. We warn that any security found unidentified will be recognized as impersonation,” he said.

The party’s General Secretary, Mr Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey added that the NDC will not tolerate any form of intimidation or harassment of citizens exercising their constitutional right to register and vote. “We call on the Electoral Commission to ensure that only authorized and identifiable security personnel are deployed to registration centers to maintain peace and order,” he said.

The NDC also raised concerns about the slow pace of registration, the lack of materials, and the deliberate attempts to disenfranchise eligible voters. They demanded that the Electoral Commission takes immediate action to address these issues and ensures a free and fair registration process.

The press conference was attended by various NDC executives. The party’s leadership urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities at registration centers to the authorities.

The limited voter registration exercise, expected to last 21 days.

The Electoral Commission has assured citizens of its commitment to ensuring a free and fair electoral process. However, the NDC’s concerns have raised questions about the commission’s preparedness and ability to deliver a credible election.
