Labour Unions of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital(KATH) have shown solidarity with the current Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Professor Addai Mensah following a petition for his removal.
Private legal practitioner, Kwame Adofo has submitted a petition to President Akufo-Addo, seeking the removal of Professor Addai Mensah, citing evidence of alleged financial mismanagement and incompetence.
But the unions in a release signed by Four(4) heads reads in part ‘we, the Labour Unions in Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KADA, KAPA, GRNMA AND HSWU), stand in solidarity with the CEO and management of the hospital to continue their good works at KATH.
This statement has become necessary following a recent allegation against the CEO by lawyer Adofo, in a petition to the President’s office.
We recognize that the allegation against the CEO does not define his character and dedication to the well-being and development of the hospital.
We witness what Prof. Addai Mensah has achieved since he was appointed the CEO of KATH.
We know his excellency, the President of the Republic, has his ears on the ground and knows the appointment of the CEO has positively impacted the hospital.
We wish to put on record that we shall resist any attempt by any faceless individuals seeking to undermine the effort of the CEO because of their parochial interest”
The petitioner had said “I made specific allegations against the said Chief Executive Officer [of KATH] because I have evidence to firmly back the claims. The first allegation concerns GHC300,000 in cash that the CEO has not been able to account for. And as a concerned citizen, I petitioned the President because he said we should not sit idle when we see people committing offences,” he added.
