Ghanaian YouTuber, Elorm Ababio, widely known as Ama Governor, has faced a challenging path to admission to the Bar by the General Legal Council (GLC). Despite her qualifications, she has been denied entry for the second time.
The GLC cited concerns over elements in her public conduct preceding her application, as outlined in a letter signed by Justice Cyra Pamela C. A. Koranteng, the Judicial Secretary, dated October 18, 2023. Following a prior denial in 2022, this decision has sparked widespread debate and scrutiny of the GLC’s criteria for admission.
Ama Governor’s journey has been marked by controversy and criticism, with her vehement denial of any wrongdoing and condemnation of the GLC’s decision as unjust. Despite being permitted to reapply for future enrolment ceremonies, she will not participate in the October 20, 2023, ceremony.

The lack of specificity in the allegations against her has been a point of contention, further fueling the public debate surrounding her case.
However, recent developments have offered a glimmer of hope. Ama Governor finds herself among the 182 candidates from the Ghana School of Law listed by the GLC for the call to the Bar ceremony on May 31, 2024.
