Majority accuses minority of hypocrisy over rejection of $350m tax exemptions

The Majority in Parliament has accused its Minority counterparts of hypocrisy.

This follows the rejection of the $350 million tax waiver requests for some 42 companies under the 1D1F initiative.

The Minority through its leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, on the floor of parliament during the recent emergency sitting questioned the basis for such waivers when government is in dire need of funds as a result of the economic crisis.

But addressing the media in parliament majority leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin questioned the basis for such exemptions granted under the Mahama administration running into billions of dollars to MPS and Gyata Cement, some of which according to him were without parliamentary approval.

The Effutu MP accused the NDC MPs of stifling the progress of local companies and Ghanaian businesses with their action.
