Bahati Foundation celebrates 2nd annual Motion equals healthy bike givaway

LOS ANGELES (JUNE 19, 2024) – The Bahati Foundation, in partnership with Unity Sports Inc. and Black Girls Do Bikes NYC, has once again demonstrated its commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and mobility.

The Foundation provided new Giant bicycles to student scholars at Friends of the Children Harlem during the 2nd Annual Motion Equals Healthy Bike Giveaway Harlem held at Marcus Garvey Park on Father’s Day.

Rahsaan Bahati, Founder and President of the Bahati Foundation, expressed his enthusiasm, “Building on the success of our previous bike giveaways, our focus this year is on providing sustainable opportunities for students. Our new partnership with Friends of the Children in Harlem strengthens our commitment to engaging students through our ‘B/Smart Student Cycle Program’ and site-based ‘Student Cycling Clubs’, ensuring long-term impact.”

This year’s event featured collaborations with educational partners including Friends of the Children, Unity Sports Inc., People for Bikes, and Black Girls Do Bikes NYC.

The Foundation extends gratitude to sponsors like Giant and Liv Bicycles USA, pivotal in making this event a success.

Special thanks to alliance partners such as the NYC Parks/Recreation Department, Harlem Community Development Corporation, and the Harlem Tourism Board for their support.

In an exciting addition, the Foundation introduced its inaugural Bike Clinic and Fun Ride, aligning perfectly with the Motion Equals Healthy theme.

This segment encouraged youth participation in a safe environment, reinstating the Fun Ride around the Garvey Park race course with a focus on bike safety practices for all ages.

BAHATI FOUNDATION Founded by 10-time US National Champion Cyclist Rahsaan Bahati, the Bahati Foundation began in 2010 in Los Angeles, aiming to impact youth through cycling, fitness, wellness, and STEM education.

The Bahati Foundation was honored to host special guests from Ghana, including Mr. Shaaban Mohammed, Secretary General of the Ghana Cycling Federation and two Para-Olympic Champions from Ghana.

His presence underscores the global impact of the Bahati Foundation’s initiatives, leading up to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028.
