Bawumia Running Mate: No decision has been made – Afenyo-Markin

Majority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has indicated that no decision has been reached on who will join Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for the 2024 ticket of the New Patriotic Party.

There were reports that the flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had presented the name of Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh to the President of Ghana as his choice of running mate; a choice the president has approved.

It was left for the flagbearer to present his name to the National Executive Council to decide on the name.

But addressing the press earlier today, Afenyo-Markin indicated that like others he has also heard the news but no decision has been taken by the political party on who will become running mate to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

“Yes, we’ve all heard matters regarding our ticket but no decision has been made yet. So I will want to encourage Members of Parliament that we are in this together. There is no perfect person in this world and the language we use may not be helpful and that is all my advice. Let us please be measured in the language we use,” he said.

He indicated that at this sensitive point in time, it will be imperative that Members of Parliament and party members ensure decorum in order not to wash their dirty linen in public.
