Korle Bu’s renal unit restricts access to inpatients, outpatients left in limbo

The Renal Unit at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has been opened to inpatients only despite announcements that outpatients would also have access to the unit.

This decision has left kidney patients in a state of uncertainty and frustration.

The Renal Patients Association is urging the hospital to open the facility to outpatients so they can receive the critical care they require.

A recent visit to the renal department at KBTH revealed that while inpatients are being accommodated, outpatients are still unable to access the dialysis centre.

Kojo Baffour Ahenkora, a spokesperson for the Renal Patients Association, expressed concern over the lack of official communication regarding the timeline for opening the facility to outpatients.

Despite the current situation, Ahenkora remains optimistic that the hospital will soon extend its services to outpatients.
