Korle Bu Teaching Hospital suspends elective surgeries until further notice

The management of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has announced the suspension of elective surgeries (surgeries that are not emergency and can be scheduled in advance) until further notice.

During this period, the management said, they will focus solely on emergency cases to ensure that critical care is not compromised.

This decision was taken in view of the ongoing lift issues at the surgical block. It has
become necessary to completely stop using the lifts, a statement issued by the management said.

As a result of the lift issues at the surgical block, the statements said, that patients cannot be moved up and down the surgical tower, significantly impacting our ability to perform surgeries as usual.
