The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration wishes to inform the general public of an important update regarding the United Kingdom’s visa and immigration requirements, as communicated by the British High Commission.
“Effective 1st January 2025, the UK Government will be transitioning to Electronic Visas (E-Visas). This change will replace all current physical visa documentation, such as”
- Physical visas in passports
- Biometric Residence Permits (BRP)
- Biometric Residence Cards (BRC)
- These documents, which are used to prove the immigration status of individuals legally
permitted to stay in the UK for more than six (6) months, will no longer be valid after 31st December 2024.
Key information to note:
i. Individuals planning to stay in the UK for more than six (6) months from 1st January 2025 are required to apply for E-Visas.
ii. This update also applies to holders of valid Biometric Residence Permits (BRP),including those with permissions to live, work, or study in the UK. All BRP cards will expire on 31st December 2024. - iii. Those traveling outside the UK, especially during the Christmas period, are advised to apply for and access their E-Visas before 31st December 2024 to avoid any complications when re-entering the UK.”
