Economist Dr. Paul Konadu has welcomed the Finance Minister Designate, Hon. Casil Ato Forson initiative to scrap off the E-levy and betting tax.
According to him, even though Ghana as a country needs revenue, it isn’t important to access the adverse impact of certain taxes that are imposed on the economy.
Dr. Paul Konadu indicated that; both e-levy and betting tax was not yielding the Country beyond 3 billion Ghana Cedis.
He again indicated that, public sentiments are even against e-levy and betting tax hence the biggest vote out of the previous Government.
Talking about various economists stand’s on e-levy, he indicated that, the imposition of e-levy to some economist has slowdown Ghana’s progress towards cashless economy.
Mr Paula Konadu in his personal submission hinted that, betting tax shouldn’t be canceled due to the fact that betting is not a productive activity and increases addiction among youths.
He therefore advised for a licensing system in the country whereby informal sector jobs will be incensed in order to track tax revenues generated.
He however accorded on the compliance initiative by the minister of finance designate and also entreated for the right systems to enable push individuals to pay taxes.
