As the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) prepares for its upcoming elections, one of the biggest questions in Ghana’s sports community is whether Ben Nunoo Mensah will seek a fourth term on the GOC Board.
Nunoo Mensah, who has served as GOC Treasure and President since 2010. Does he been instrumental in driving in the Ghanaian sports administration?
Under his leadership, the GOC has faced most financial accountability challenges to stakeholders at every General Assembly.
Will this give him the chance of winning the next congress or better pull off for new face in Ghana sports to enhanced athlete welfare programs, and improved Ghana’s representation at global sporting events. His tenure has also seen increased division amongst leadership within the boards of the GOC, the control of the Secretariat and function of the Sub committees
With the GOC elections fast approaching, the sports fraternity is keenly watching whether Nunoo Mensah will declare his fourth term candidacy. While some believe his continuity will not bring stability and sustained progress, and argue that fresh leadership could introduce new ideas and strategies for the future.
As speculation grows, eyes remain on Nunoo Mensah’s next move. Will he run for a fourth term, or will he pave the way for new leadership? The answer to this question could shape the direction of Ghana’s Olympic movement for years to come in transforming Federations and athletes in the next Olympic Games in LA2028, among others.
