The Ghana Football Association (GFA), in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES), is set to introduce the Football4Girls initiative in several schools within the Akwadum area as part of its commitment to developing women’s football at the grassroots level.
Launched in 2022, Football4Girls aims to empower young girls through football, challenging misconceptions about female participation in the sport while identifying and nurturing emerging talents. The program, a key component of the GFA’s women’s football strategy, will be rolled out in the following schools:
- Akwadum M/A Primary School
- Akwadum Methodist School
- Akwadum Islamic School
- Akwadum R/C School
- Brong Densuso M/A
- Akwadum Christian Village
The event is scheduled for Friday, March 28, 2025, and will feature engaging football activities designed to introduce girls to the sport, build their confidence, and encourage long-term participation.
The initiative aligns with the GFA’s broader strategy to enhance women’s football across the country, ensuring equal opportunities and promoting the sport as a vehicle for empowerment. With the growing interest in women’s football globally.
