The current Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) Board’s four-year mandate officially ends March 15th, 2025.
As per the GOC constitution and the Olympic Charter, the expiration of the board is led by President Mr Ben Nunoo Mensah. The Board, elected on March 15, 2021, has successfully completed its mandate, marking a remarkable term that paves the way for the electoral process to usher in new leadership for the next cycle.
The upcoming elections will be crucial in determining the future direction of the GOC and Ghana’s participation in international sporting events, including the LA 2028 Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and other major competitions.
The stakeholders, is including national federations, athletes, and sports administrators, have already engaged in discussions on the electoral roadmap. The GOC Electoral/Committee/Commission is expected to release guidelines and timelines for the elections, ensuring a transparent and fair process.
The tenure of all Board members officially ended, March 15, 2025, and the general public is hereby informed of this transition.
The GOC has announced plans to elect a new Executive Board on April 26, 2025. In preparation for this, an Extraordinary General Meeting has been proposed not later than Saturday, March 29, 2025, to discuss critical matters, including finance, governance, and the Amasaman project, among others.
This meeting aligns with the GOC’s constitution and commitment to transparency and accountability.
Nominations for the new Executive Board is planned to open on April 5, 2025, as the Elections Commission/Committee prepares to oversee a fair and democratic process. The GOC remains steadfast in its mission to promote excellence in sports and uphold Olympic values in Ghana.
The outgoing board’s tenure saw notable achievements and challenges in Ghana’s Olympic movement. As the transition begins, all eyes will be on the electoral process and the candidates vying for key positions.
