The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, has proposed a major refurbishment of the Cape
Coast Stadium, recommending that it be designated exclusively for Black Stars matches.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with 3Sports, the minister emphasized the need for a dedicated home ground for the senior national team, ensuring better pitch conditions and a stronger team
identity.
“We should refurbish the Cape Coast Stadium and keep it for Black Stars matches only,” Hon. Adams
stated.
In addition to stadium infrastructure, the minister revealed that he had reservations about the Ghana
Football Association (GFA) retaining Otto Addo as the head coach of the Black Stars. Although he did not elaborate, his comments suggest concerns over the team’s current direction under Addo’s leadership.
The Black Stars have a crucial World Cup qualification match against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, 2025. This will be their first game since their disappointing AFCON qualification campaign.
