Mr. Akpokavie Esq Steps Forward: A Game Changer for Ghana’s Olympic Leadership

Mr. Richard Akpokavie Esq has officially submitted his nomination form for a key executive position within the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).

The submission, made earlier today at the GOC headquarters, marks a pivotal moment in the lead-up to the upcoming elections.

Widely respected in both legal and sports circles, Mr. Akpokavie brings decades of experience to the table. As a seasoned legal practitioner and former Secretary-General of the GOC, his name is synonymous with ethical leadership and strategic advancement of Ghanaian sports on the international stage.

His entry into the race has sparked enthusiasm among various sports federations, many of whom cite his proven track record and inclusive leadership style.

Speaking to the press after filing his nomination, Mr. Akpokavie stated:
“God willing, nominations will close on the 16th. Once the final list of contestants is announced, we’ll fully launch our campaign and outline our vision for the position.”

One thing I bring to the table is experience. I’ve served as GOC Secretary-General for eight years, Vice President of Ghana Hockey, and I’ve worn many hats in sports as a player, coach, and administrator. I understand this space deeply.

More importantly, I’m someone who brings people together. Unity is essential for federations to thrive and achieve their goals. And beyond that, I bring competence, particularly in the area of sports development.”

With nomination deadlines approaching, all eyes are now on the final list of candidates. Mr. Akpokavie’s candidacy is expected to shape the tone and direction of what promises to be a defining election for the future of Ghanaian sports leadership.

The much-anticipated Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) election is scheduled for April 26, 2025, as the new date for its elective Congress.
