President John Dramani Mahama has launched the Adwumawura Programme, a flagship initiative aimed at addressing youth unemployment and fostering entrepreneurship in Ghana.

The launching took place in Kumasi bringing together government officials, community leaders and the youth at the Prempeh Hall.

The Adwumawura Programme is made to create, mentor, and support at least 10,000 businesses annually, with a strong focus on empowering young people aged 18 to 35. Beneficiaries will receive comprehensive assistance, including skills training, mentorship, access to start-up capital, and equipment.

Eric Adjei, CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program (NEIP), outlined the program’s mission and its broader vision under the leadership of President John Mahama.

He emphasised that the programme is not merely a policy but a commitment to providing young Ghanaians with real opportunities to turn their dreams into reality.

We will help the youth soar.”

He highlighted the government’s commitment to creating decent and sustainable jobs for young people, aligning with the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s broader agenda to foster economic growth and innovation.

The initiative is backed by a GH₵100 million allocation from the 2025 Budget Statement, presented by Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson.

George Opare Addo, Minister of Youth Development & Empowerment also gave a speech at the event;

“Today, we are officially launching the Adwumawura Program, which is designed to empower 10,000 young entrepreneurs.
