Police Arrest Six Aggrey Memorial SHS Students Over Alleged Assault of Adisadel Student

The Ghana Police Service has arrested six students of Aggrey Memorial Senior High School for allegedly assaulting a final-year student of Adisadel College in Cape Coast in the Central Region.

According to a press release issued by the Central Regional Command’s Public Affairs Unit on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the incident occurred on Friday, February 20, 2026, at about 3:30 p.m., following the final day of an inter-colleges sports festival at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Police identified the victim as Rexford Owusu-Ansah. He was reportedly attacked at Pedu Junction while returning to campus with two friends.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects stopped the students to confirm whether they were from Adisadel College before allegedly launching the assault. While the victim’s two friends managed to escape, he was reportedly overpowered, kicked to the ground, and beaten.

The attackers are also said to have taken his iPhone 17 Pro Max, GH¢1,400 in cash, and his shoes.

Authorities of Aggrey Memorial SHS later handed over the six juvenile suspects to the Kotokuraba Police Station at about 7:30 p.m. the same day.

The victim initially received treatment at the stadium clinic before being referred to the Cape Coast Regional Hospital. He was discharged on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

A police medical report endorsed by a doctor indicated that the student sustained a fractured bone around his right eye, leaving him unable to open it.

The victim’s two friends have reportedly informed police that they are able to identify the attackers.

In the statement signed by Acting Head of Public Affairs, Patrick Bentum, the Central Regional Police Command strongly condemned the violence and assured the public that due process would be followed.

“The Central Regional Police Command strongly condemns the violence and assures the public that due process will be followed as the juvenile offenders will face the full rigours of the law,” the statement concluded.
