Lambeth Palace has announced that Archbishop Sarah will undertake an official visit to the Anglican Church of the Province of West Africa later this year.
The visit, scheduled from July 26 to August 8, 2026, follows an invitation from the Primate of West Africa and Bishop of Asante-Mampong, Cyril Kobina Ben-Smith. The two leaders recently held discussions during an online meeting, and also met in person during Archbishop Sarah’s installation at Canterbury Cathedral.
The installation service brought together representatives from across the global Anglican Communion, with 32 provinces in attendance. The gathering included 26 primates, four official primatial representatives, and other delegates from around the world. In the days following the ceremony, Archbishop Sarah held meetings with ecumenical and regional delegations, engaging in dialogue, fellowship and prayer with Anglican leaders.
The Anglican Church of the Province of West Africa comprises 19 dioceses across eight countries in the region. During the visit, Archbishop Sarah is expected to travel to Ghana and Cameroon.

According to Lambeth Palace, the visit is intended to deepen relationships between the See of Canterbury and the West African province, while also promoting stronger ecumenical engagement. It forms part of Archbishop Sarah’s broader commitment to listening, learning and strengthening unity across the Anglican Communion, as well as sharing in the mission and ministry of Anglican communities worldwide
