The University of Cape Coast community is in mourning following the tragic deaths of senior lecturer Dr. Kwabena Koforobour Agyemang and his teaching assistant, Peter Amoadu-Asmah, in a fatal road accident.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Third Ridge along the Cape Coast–Accra highway, where the two were reportedly killed after a tipper truck crashed into their vehicle.
In an official statement, the university expressed “profound shock and deep sorrow” over the loss, describing Dr. Agyemang as a dedicated academic who made significant contributions to teaching, research and service within the Department of Geography and Regional Planning.
Mr. Amoadu-Asmah, a national service personnel and recent graduate of the same department, was also remembered for his academic excellence, having graduated as the overall best student.
Reports indicate that the crash involved a tipper truck that lost control and fatally struck the vehicle carrying the two victims, leading to their instant deaths.
The university has extended its condolences to the bereaved families and urged the public and media to exercise sensitivity in reporting the incident during this difficult time.
The deaths have triggered an outpouring of grief across campus and on social media, with colleagues, students and alumni paying tribute to the lives and contributions of the two individuals.
