The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has scheduled planned maintenance exercises in the Accra East and Ashanti Region for Friday, May 8, 2026, as part of efforts to improve service reliability and strengthen the stability of the national power grid.
According to notices issued by the power distributor, the maintenance works will begin at 9:00 a.m. in both regions, although outage durations will vary depending on the nature of the work being undertaken.
In the Accra East Region, the exercise is expected to run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting areas including Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, Ashongman Estate, Ga Municipal Hospital, and nearby communities.
The eight-hour outage is expected to affect both residential and institutional facilities, including key healthcare infrastructure.
Meanwhile, in the Ashanti Region, maintenance activities will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., affecting C.Man Estates, Bebianiha, Asikuma, Meretweso, Nsuiem 1 and 2, Esaase, and surrounding areas.
In its advisory, ECG apologised to affected customers for the inconvenience the outages may cause to homes and businesses.
The company assured the public that the planned interventions are necessary to improve the long-term reliability and efficiency of the electricity distribution network and enhance service delivery across the affected regions.
