Services Resume Fully at KATH OPD Following Suspension of Doctors’ Strike

Normal activities have resumed at the Out-Patient Department (OPD) of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), with patients once again receiving medical attention following the suspension of a four-day strike by doctors.

Patients arriving at the facility are being called in and assigned to their respective doctors, while those with scheduled appointments are also being attended to as usual.

The return to full operations comes after doctors called off their industrial action, which was triggered by concerns over the suspension of the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer.

Sources at the hospital confirmed that doctors and other healthcare workers have resumed their duties, resulting in a significant improvement in service delivery across the facility.

During the strike, activity at the OPD was noticeably reduced as many patients sought treatment at nearby health facilities. However, the department is now bustling with patients seeking consultations and medical care.

The industrial action was suspended following the intervention of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. Despite returning to work, the doctors insist that the government must engage all relevant stakeholders and work towards an amicable resolution of the issues that led to the dispute.

Hospital operations are expected to continue normally as discussions aimed at resolving the underlying concerns proceed.
