Adwoa Safo Undergoes Two Surgeries After Reported Shooting Incident; May Seek Further Treatment Abroad

Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is receiving medical treatment at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra after reportedly sustaining gunshot injuries during a shooting incident, her Special Assistant, Dr. Emmanuel Y. Boakye, has disclosed.

The incident is said to have occurred at the residence of her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo Akofena, where a violent confrontation reportedly erupted. Reports indicate that approximately 45 rounds of ammunition were fired, with Adwoa Safo’s vehicle allegedly coming under attack.

A video circulating on social media purportedly shows the former legislator being transported to hospital in an ambulance shortly after the incident.

Speaking on GhanAkoma on Akoma 87.9 FM, Dr. Boakye confirmed that Adwoa Safo has already undergone two surgical procedures and may be flown outside Ghana for specialised medical care.

“Adwoa has undergone two surgeries and is expected to be flown abroad for further treatment to prevent further damage to her face,” he said.

Sources at the 37 Military Hospital indicate that she remains under close medical supervision as doctors monitor her recovery following the surgeries.

While Dr. Boakye did not reveal the country being considered for the proposed treatment, he noted that arrangements are being explored to ensure she receives the best possible care.

The reported shooting has generated widespread public concern and renewed calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Security authorities are yet to issue a comprehensive official statement, although investigations are expected to continue.

More details are anticipated in the coming days as medical personnel and law enforcement agencies provide updates on both her condition and the circumstances leading to the shooting.
