Paul Yandoh has placed third in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Ashanti Regional Secretary election after securing 105 votes in the contest held on Saturday, August 15.
Yandoh, who previously served as the party’s Ashanti Regional Communications Officer, left the position to contest the regional secretaryship.
Francis Adomako won the race with 492 votes, while Michael Amoah Awuku placed second with 331 votes.
Yandoh’s candidacy attracted considerable attention ahead of the election, particularly after Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene, a member of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), publicly endorsed and campaigned for him on social media.
The unusual cross-party show of support generated interest in Yandoh’s campaign and his prospects among NPP delegates.
However, the final results saw Francis Adomako emerge as the clear winner, with Yandoh securing 105 votes.
Yandoh’s defeat means he will not be part of the new Ashanti Regional executive team, having opted to vacate his previous Communications Officer position to contest the secretaryship.
The election forms part of the NPP’s broader reorganisation efforts as the party seeks to strengthen its structures in the Ashanti Region and position itself ahead of the 2028 general elections.
