President John Dramani Mahama has made further changes to his administration, reassigning Deputy Defence Minister Ernest Brogya Genfi from the Ministry of Defence to the Presidency.
Brogya Genfi has been appointed Adviser to the President on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness. He had served as Deputy Minister for Defence since his appointment in March 2025.
In another change, Minister of State in charge of Special Initiatives, Emmanuel Agyekum, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment.
He takes over the portfolio from Dr Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, who has been appointed to replace him as Minister of State in charge of Special Initiatives.
The latest changes mark the second ministerial reshuffle by President Mahama since the beginning of his second term. The first reshuffle was announced on August 7, 2026.
As part of the earlier changes, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei was reassigned from the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources to the Ministry of Defence.
Ahmed Ibrahim was also moved from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs to take charge of the Works, Housing and Water Resources portfolio.
The latest appointments and reassignments form part of President Mahama’s ongoing efforts to reorganise his administration and strengthen the delivery of his government’s priorities.
