President John Dramani Mahama has urged newly sworn-in ministers Mahama Ayariga and Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings to make accountability, transparency and integrity the foundation of their service to the country.
He tasked the two ministers with remaining accessible to citizens, paying attention to their concerns and ensuring that decisions taken in the course of their duties are guided by the law, fairness and the national interest.
Mr Ayariga and Dr Agyeman-Rawlings took their oaths of office on Saturday, August 29, 2026, after receiving parliamentary approval on Friday, August 28.
Mr Ayariga has been appointed Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, while Dr Agyeman-Rawlings assumes the position of Minister for Environment, Science and Technology.
Addressing the two ministers after the swearing-in ceremony, President Mahama said their appointments came with considerable expectations from Ghanaians.
He noted that the public expected more than the mere occupation of government positions, stressing that ministers must demonstrate tangible results while maintaining high standards of integrity and accountability.
The President further urged the ministers to listen to the public and respond promptly to their concerns, while exercising firmness when necessary and fairness whenever required.
He also advised them to remain humble in the discharge of their responsibilities, seek and respect professional advice, and uphold the authority of institutions under their leadership.
President Mahama emphasised the need for prudent management of public resources, urging the ministers to ensure that every decision they make can withstand scrutiny based on legality, fairness and the public interest.
