Gold Coast Customers Set for Fresh Protest Over Locked-Up Funds

Aggrieved customers of the defunct Gold Coast Fund Management are preparing to stage another protest on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, to demand the release of their outstanding investments.

The planned demonstration follows the failure to include a full budgetary provision for the settlement of their claims in the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review.

The customers had previously appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to direct the Finance Ministry to make adequate financial provision to settle all outstanding claims, citing the prolonged hardship faced by affected investors.

The protesters are expected to assemble at the forecourt of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Osu before being transported to Jubilee House, where they intend to present a petition to the President.

Convener of the Aggrieved Customers of Gold Coast Fund Management, Charles Nyame, has urged affected investors to participate in the protest, describing it as an important step in their continued efforts to recover their funds.

Customers of other collapsed financial institutions have also been invited to join the action, as the organisers seek to draw attention to the wider impact of the financial sector clean-up on investors.

The organisers have stressed that the demonstration will be peaceful and orderly. Buses will transport participants from Osu to Jubilee House.

Gold Coast Fund Management, later renamed Blackshield Fund Management, was among the financial institutions whose licences were revoked during Ghana’s financial sector clean-up.

The customers intensified their calls for full payment ahead of the mid-year budget review, hoping that government would make adequate provision to clear the outstanding claims.

With their demand still unresolved, the group is now taking its concerns directly to the Presidency, calling for clarity on the payment process and an urgent resolution to the issue.
