Gomoa Central MP Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, reportedly escaped an attack by angry residents of New Winneba following a deadly clash in the community.
The MP had gone to the Effutu North District Police Command to gather firsthand information on the violence, which left three people dead and 15 others injured.
The clash is believed to have been triggered by a land dispute involving residents from communities in Gomoa and New Winneba.
A-Plus visited the police command to ascertain what led to the confrontation and engage security officials on efforts to contain the situation.
However, his arrival reportedly angered some residents who had gathered at the police facility.
The agitated crowd confronted the MP, forcing security personnel to swiftly step in and escort him away from the area to prevent further escalation.
Personnel from the Central Regional Police Command and other security agencies were deployed to the scene to protect the MP and restore order.
Some residents who spoke to Adom News expressed anger over the incident and raised concerns about the growing tensions between the affected communities.
With tensions still running high, security agencies are working to prevent further clashes and restore calm in New Winneba.
