‘I Know the Hand of God Is in My Reshuffle’ – Ahmed Ibrahim Says as He Assumes Water, Works and Housing Minister Role

Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Ahmed Ibrahim, has described his reassignment from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs as an act of divine intervention.

Mr. Ibrahim was moved to the Works, Housing and Water Resources Ministry following President John Mahama’s ministerial reshuffle announced on August 7, 2026.

Speaking at the handing-over ceremony for the new Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Minister, Mahama Ayariga, on Tuesday, September 1, Mr. Ibrahim said events surrounding his reassignment had strengthened his belief that God was behind the decision.

He recalled that on August 7, the day the reshuffle was announced, he was delivering a sermon at the Global Evangelical Church when he received news of his reassignment.

According to him, he was also handed a Bible at the time, which he now considers significant, particularly because representatives of the Christian Council were present at the handing-over ceremony.

“I am happy and I know the hand of God is in my reshuffle,” he said, adding that the events surrounding his departure from the ministry had convinced him that the change was part of a bigger divine plan.

Ahmed Ibrahim has since assumed responsibility for the Works, Housing and Water Resources Ministry, while Mahama Ayariga takes over the Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs portfolio.
