Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has secured two major honors at the 8th Airports Council International (ACI) World Airport Experience Summit in Istanbul, Turkey. Kotoka International Airport was named Best Airport at Departures (Africa) in the 2–5 million passenger category and earned the Customer Experience Level 1 Accreditation.
Accepting the awards, GACL Managing Director Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare dedicated the recognition to the airport’s workforce and key partners, emphasizing that cross-sector collaboration made the achievement possible. She noted that while the awards mark a major milestone, they serve as a reminder to continuously elevate service standards rather than a final destination.
Held under the theme “Airport Experience: The New Era,” this year’s summit brought together aviation leaders to examine the shift toward human-centered travel, highlighting how top-tier airports integrate hospitality into everyday operations. The ACI accreditation program offers a 360-degree review process, evaluating stakeholder alignment, employee engagement, and long-term customer service management.
