Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has emerged as the leading choice among NDC delegates in the latest Global InfoAnalytics poll on who should represent the party in the 2028 presidential election.
Ato Forson’s support rose sharply from 22% in July to 32% in September, representing a 10-percentage-point increase.
NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who previously led the poll, moved in the opposite direction, falling from 27% to 23%. The latest figures therefore place Ato Forson nine percentage points ahead of him.
The results were shared on Monday, September 14, 2026, by Global InfoAnalytics Executive Director Mussa Dankwah.
Other Contenders
Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu recorded 5%, down from 6% in July.
Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang and Chief of Staff Julius Debrah each polled 4%. Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s figure declined from 7%, while Julius Debrah dropped from 5%.
Professor Joshua Alabi improved slightly from 1% to 2%, while Food and Agriculture Minister Eric Opoku remained unchanged at 1%.
Meanwhile, 28% of delegates remained undecided, although this represents a decline from the 30% recorded in July.
3,615 Delegates Surveyed
According to Mussa Dankwah, the September poll involved 3,615 NDC delegates sampled between September 11 and 13, 2026.
The survey was conducted at a 99% confidence level, with a margin of error of ±2.17 percentage points.
The results point to a significant change in the preferences of NDC delegates, particularly the sharp rise in support for Ato Forson and the decline recorded by Asiedu Nketia.
However, with more than a quarter of delegates yet to decide, the poll suggests that the NDC’s 2028 presidential race remains open and could change as the various contenders intensify efforts to consolidate support.
