EOCO Officials Reportedly Attempt to Arrest Manhyia South MP at High Court

Officials of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) reportedly attempted to arrest the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, at the Accra High Court on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

According to sources close to the MP who spoke to Citi News, the reported action was connected to claims that Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah had failed to respond to invitations from EOCO as part of investigations into the Ghana Jollof TikTok account.

The sources, however, maintain that the MP had not received any invitation from the anti-corruption agency.

They also alleged that the reported attempt to arrest him was linked to his public defence of Salomey Baffoe, who has been accused of being an accomplice of the person operating the Ghana Jollof TikTok account.

Videos obtained by Adoa News appear to show a woman who identified herself as an EOCO officer asking the MP to accompany her to the agency’s office. Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah declined the request and was later seen leaving the area in his Toyota V8, with the EOCO officials following behind.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. It has not yet been established whether EOCO formally invited the MP or the specific grounds on which an arrest was reportedly being sought.

EOCO has not yet issued a public statement on the incident.
