Manhyia South Member of Parliament Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah says he has filed a Writ of Summons against Akwatia MP Bernard Bediako Baidoo and broadcaster Abubakar Alhassan, popularly known as Blakk Rasta, over statements he alleges are false and defamatory.
In a statement dated Monday, September 28, 2026, the Manhyia South legislator said he had taken legal action against the two individuals over what he described as “falsehoods” concerning his person.
Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah identified Bernard Bediako Baidoo and Abubakar Alhassan, known as Blakk Rasta, as the defendants in the suit.
“I have today, 28th September 2026, filed a Writ of Summons against the underlisted persons for spewing falsehoods against my person,” he stated.
The MP said he had opted to pursue the matter through the civil courts rather than seek criminal prosecution over the alleged publication of false information.
“Unlike the government, I have chosen the path of democrats, by seeking relief through civil court rather than pursuing criminal prosecution for the publication of false news,” he said.
The legal action comes amid a broader dispute involving the alleged detention of Salomey Awiti Baffoe and Camilla Alhassan.
According to Baffour Awuah, the two women are currently in police custody following what he described as an attempt by state security agencies to intimidate and silence him.
He further alleged that Salomey Baffoe was “kidnapped by state security agents” late on Saturday and remains in police custody.
The legislator said the alleged actions would not deter him from pursuing the matter, particularly his efforts concerning the two women.
“The above having been said, I wish to state that the attempt by the government to intimidate and silence me in my quest to fight for the poor mother of three (3) minor children who was kidnapped by state security agents… and remains in police custody has failed,” he said.
Baffour Awuah said his immediate focus remains on securing the release of Salomey Baffoe and Camilla Alhassan and facilitating their reunion with their families.
“I remain committed to fighting for Madam Salomey Awiti Bafoh’s liberty as well as Camilla Alhassan to ensure that they are reunited with their family who await their return,” he added.
