The Ghana Police Service has postponed the full implementation of its automated traffic law enforcement programme, TRAFFITECH-GH, from October 1 to November 1, 2026.
The Service said the decision was to allow for a more extensive public awareness and education campaign before the programme becomes fully operational.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 29, the Police, through the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), said the campaign would provide motorists with information on how TRAFFITECH-GH operates, the traffic offences it will detect and the Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) that will be issued to motorists who breach traffic regulations.
The Police Service said the programme forms part of efforts to curb indiscipline on Ghana’s roads and improve compliance with road traffic laws and regulations.
It has consequently urged drivers, motorists and vehicle owners to use the additional month to familiarise themselves with the system ahead of its implementation.
The Service also expressed appreciation to the media for its continued support in raising awareness about the project.
It reaffirmed its commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to ensure the successful rollout of TRAFFITECH-GH and promote improved road safety across the country.
