A group of importers has petitioned the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to investigate the alleged unauthorised removal, transfer and disappearance of 28 containers from the Tema Port.
In a petition dated September 29, 2026, and addressed to the GRA Commissioner-General, the importers said the affected containers were at various stages of the clearance process when they were reportedly found to be empty, missing, transferred or moved out of the port without the knowledge or consent of their owners.
The petition identified the affected containers by their respective bill of lading numbers and called for an urgent and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding their removal and transfer.
According to the importers, an official complaint has already been lodged with the Tema Regional Police Command, leading to the arrest of some individuals allegedly connected to the incident.
The case follows allegations of the illegal removal and diversion of containers from the Tema Port.

The importers said the alleged activity came to light after some owners discovered their goods being offloaded from one of the containers into a warehouse near the GHACEM area in Tema.
They have expressed their willingness to cooperate with the GRA, the police and other relevant authorities to assist in the investigation.
The petition also included a detailed list of the 28 affected containers, together with their respective statuses as established by the importers.
