Popular entertainment venue Polo Beach Club, located near the Labadi Beach Resort in Accra, has been demolished as authorities continue an exercise to clear structures in the La Beach area.
The demolition was carried out as part of a joint operation involving personnel from the 48 Engineer Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces and the Ghana Police Service.
The exercise follows an earlier demolition operation in the area, which was met with resistance from some residents and owners of affected structures.
The deployment of security personnel has allowed the authorities to continue with the clearance exercise, with several other structures also being targeted for demolition.
The ongoing operation forms part of efforts to clear structures in the La Beach area, although details on the fate of the remaining properties have not yet been disclosed.
