John Boadu Pledges to Rebuild NPP Grassroots, Restore Winning Machinery

Newly elected National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has pledged to rebuild the party from the grassroots and restore its winning machinery ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Mr Boadu, who secured 2,888 votes at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, said his administration would prioritise unity, consultation and stronger party structures.

Delivering his acceptance speech after his election, Mr Boadu described the victory as a responsibility and urged all contestants to put the contest behind them and work together for the party’s progress.

“Today is not merely a day of victory. It is a day of responsibility and of great unity. I stand before you with a heart full of gratitude and humility,” he said.

He invited his former opponents to bring their ideas, experience and networks to support the development of the party.

“There must be no winners and losers. Only one NPP united around one purpose,” he said.

Mr Boadu said the new leadership would work closely with regional and constituency executives, Members of Parliament, party patrons, external branches and other organised groups to strengthen the party’s structures.

He also pledged to deepen the NPP’s engagement with voluntary groups, social media practitioners and traditional media while creating more opportunities for young people and promoting leadership development in tertiary institutions.

The National Chairman further said the party would collaborate with its flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and the national leadership to strengthen its organisational and financial foundations, particularly at the constituency level.

He cautioned that victory in 2028 could not be assumed and would have to be earned through effective organisation, service, credibility and the trust of Ghanaians.

“Political victory is never an entitlement. It must be earned through service, organisation, credibility, and the trust of the Ghanaian people. That is why our preparation begins now,” he said.

Mr Boadu also called for renewed attention to grassroots mobilisation, youth empowerment, support for women, and stronger engagement with professionals, traditional leaders and religious leaders.

He urged party members to place unity and service above individual ambitions as the NPP begins preparations for the next general election.

“So I make this commitment: we will serve the New Patriotic Party with humility, lead through consultation, work with every part of our party and dedicate this mandate to restoring the winning machinery of our great party,” he said.

Concluding his address, Mr Boadu expressed confidence in the party’s prospects in the 2028 elections.

“JB and his executives are back again. Victory is assured in the year 2028,” he declared.
